The news that I have won a National Lottery Project Grant from Arts Council England is a huge boost. This project, “A Creative Transformation”, and the accompanying feature documentary film (“Hallucinosis”) open opportunities for me to do things I have yearned to do, for many years. My life is a series of perpetual creative transformations. Now is the chance to deliver stimulus, methods and creative research in three different contexts: art workshops for people with lived experience, NHS staff training, and academic discussions. The aim is to change perceptions about TBI, hallucinations, trauma and mental illness (breaking down stigma), open novel methods of coping and thinking with or about these crucial issues — always engaging with creativity and the arts. The imagination is our motor, our engine, our manager. I am grateful to be collaborating with brilliant people around the UK. There is much to say and do.
